How to Extend the Range of an RC Car?
Many RC cars can drive up to 30m (100ft). After that distance, the receiver, which is located in the RC car, begins to lose the signal from the transmitter, which is on the hand controller. There are second-hand transmitters and receivers that help extend the distance from the RC vehicle, RC Car or RC Boats. Other options include working with the vehicle's antenna. If the antenna is not high enough in the car, the distance will be dramatically shorter.

Step 1: Remove the standard RC car receiver. Unplug the cables connecting the receiver to the power source and to the motor. Exclude the screws holding the receiver in place using a Phillips screwdriver.
Step 2: Place a second-hand receiver in the RC car. This higher-powered receiver will allow the car to drive further. Screw the receiver into place. If the second-hand receiver can't be screwed into the pre-drilled holes in the car's chassis, tape the receiver in place with double-sided foam tape. Connect the power and motor cables to the receiver.
Step 3: Buy a second-hand portable transmitter that is equal in power to the receiver. The frequency crystals must match for the transmitter and receiver so that they communicate with each other. The transmitter and crystals must be purchased from a local retail store or online sales specialists.
Step 4: Inspect the antenna on the RC car. Pull the antenna through the antenna bracket. Protect the bracket in the pre-drilled hole in the car's chassis, which keeps the antenna vertically. You can get a greater distance from the car due to the higher antenna height.
Step 5: Replace the standard transmitter antenna with a longer second-hand antenna. Second-hand antennas can be purchased at any local store. Rotate the standard antenna counterclockwise until it is completely unscrewed from the transmitter. Insert the second-hand antenna into the place of the standard antenna. Rotate the new antenna clockwise until it is snug. Turn on the transmitter first, then the car. Run the vehicle to make sure that all components work properly.
Tips
Standing on higher ground will allow the transmitter and receiver to better communicate with each other over long distances.
